I’ve got chili down and it is good… last time I made it (not your mamas chili) I used Not Your Father’s Rootbeer. So this time I opted to use no alcohol (shocking) and see if I could get good flavor anyway.
I used ground turkey AND some of the leftover chicken from my broth escapade to mix it up and add some heartiness. Otherwise I didn’t do that much different.
I chopped up red pepper, zuchinni, baby tomatoes and onion (no waste in the house). Sauteed the onion. Cooked the turkey, using olive oil to open up the flavor with salt and pepper and some crushed red pepper and chili powder. Popped all that into the crockpot. Turkey, chicken, 2 cans stewed tomatoes, 1 can of drained white kidney beans, 1/2 can of tomatoe paste, a little sugar, 2 garlic cloves and some more spices (oregano, crushed red pepper, chili powder, garlic salt and cumin).
Cook on high for an hour or so and on low for another hour then added white shredded cheddar to the pot left it alone for a bit more. Topped off with sourcream, mixed shredded cheese, cilantro and chives. Perfect.
